Well this is the first time posting on this site.
Most people are going to think I am crazy, but my brother and I are in the process of building a SxS sidelock. We are about 90% complete on the design, and have come to the conclusion that we are not going to be able to make the barrels. The design is a monoblock. (splinter, dt, straight, ejectors)
Are there any barrel makers out there that will make only a couple of barrels at a time?
Thanks, I look forward to the responses.

You can buy individual barrels from a few places like Galazan, for one.

Note that barrel manufacturer is E. R. Shaw, not ershaw. The barrels you might buy from him (or somewhere else) will be barrel blanks. They not only will require turning to fit the monoblock, they will require striking down the exterior dimensions (wall thickness) to suitable dimensions, chambering and cutting forcing cones, choking, and fitting of locking lugs and ribs. Lotsa work involved. What do you think in your sidelock design will be an improvement over something you might buy already made by experienced shotgun makers that would justify such a massive amount of work?

Interesting project. Where are you getting your locks, rough actions, forend iron, monoblock, and stuff like that? Are you guys making it all from scratch, or parting it out off of some other guns? And how will your design differ from a stand H&H style sidelock with Southgate-style ejectors? I'd love to learn more. As for bbls, I would contact someone like this guy: http://www.kirkmerrington.net/He sleeves bbls, so he must have a source for tubes. Good luck. OWD

Just two engineers with a full tool room at our disposal, and a good idea. We do not know if the project will be a success or a failure, but the half the fun is trying.

This is a completely custom SxS. All parts will be made from scratch. The action will have double intercepting sears and utilize coil springs and possibly have an adjustable trigger. Once we get into testing we will have a better idea of all of the extras.

I would think the barrels are some of the easier parts to make....

If you have the right equipment they are easy. The problem is we do not have this specialized equipment at our disposal.
