Hey guys, I'm trying to find out the value of some vintage (?) Winchester 410 shot shells I have. I've tried the searching the internet and found nothing. So they're either not valuable, or so rare nobody else has them? (I think it ''s the former. Paper hulls. One box each of #5 & #6. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, and sorry if it's the wrong forum. Don.

Let me tell you a story Once,I had a box of Federal 410 3" #7.5. Fella on the box had a Tam hat, cardigan sweater, etc. Nice old box and paper ammo. Tried to get my ammo collecting buddies to go to Wal-Mart and buy me a box of new 3" 410 ammo so I could dove hunt with the shells. OH NO!! they said, that would cost them WAY TOO MUCH !! So, after three years of asking, I used the old ammo to dove hunt and sold the EMPTY BOX on Ebay for $35.00 Mike

Mike, I have a whole 20 box case of those same Federal .410 3" paper shells. The boxes are pristine and neat looking.

I'm not a big ammo collector, but I might be interested in buying them.

I did the same thing Skeettx. I shot up two boxes of Remington Peters 410's on a rat shoot and saved the boxes. The shooting was so "Fast and Furious" I didn't even have time to pick up the emptys.

Why would one "Want" #5s in a .410?? Miller, Dedicated Maine wingshooters believe grouse (shot on the wing) and partridge (ground or tree-swatted) are two completely different birds. I am certain more partridge are taken each year here. A single shot .410 is one of the most popular partridge guns up here. Methods include road walking/riding and sitting in trees around apple piles. From time to time we run into partridge hunters afield. Several are good friends. I've asked about preferred guns and loads and univerally they prefer the larger shot sizes and full chokes. The 3" .410 in #4 (no, that's not a typo) or #6 seems to be preferred. I have never encountered a partridge hunter using the #7.5s or #8s I stuff into my M-42s. And, if anything, I get the impression #4s are preferred to #6s by these guys. Sam
