This is out of a Hallowell & Co ad in the 1991 Volume 2 Double Gun Journal:
J. PURDEY AND SONS PERCUSSION BACK ACTION SIDELOCK 14 GA. - 36" side by side barrels of Sir Joseph Whitworth's Fluid Compressed Steel choked cyl/cyl, 14-1/2" pull from DT to blued steel buttplate, Manton Patchlock-style hammers with detachable strikers. Platinum safety vents, Silver watertable, straight gr/splinter FE, figured walnut, scroll engraved and with pineapple finials. 10 lbs 2 oz, extra hammers, main springs & nipples. Hawksley measuring flasks for powder and shot, 4 turn screws, 5 nipple tools, 3 cleaning rods with innumerable tips, oil bottle, cap box, etc. All in fitted oak case with heavy leather overcase. Built in 1904 for Charles Gordon. Unfired and in new condition. ...$34,500

Daryl I didn't know that such a book was out there. And then I found out my shooting student Joe Wood ordered a copy today. I will get to read it soon.

It is a great book. I've seen a few of the guns shown in that book. They are fabulous indeed!

I saw one of the rifles and a friend owns a pair of the pistols. The best of the best, I'd love to have one in my collection. Actually, it was just a joy to handle them.

I'm with you on this, Mike. I thought I either owned all the Dallas books or otherwise seen the rest. Had NO idea about this one, and I'll bet Daryl is right on the money about the quality of the read.
I'm gong a'hunting for this book this week.
