I think what you have there is a Sauer Mauser with a G&H barrel. Contrary to what I have written I believe that is a commercial Mauser action.

I have some chores to run be back in a couple hours.

These should cover it. Sorry about the double posts. I appreciate the information. If I am understanding correctly, it is a J.P. Sauer "Mauser" that has been rebarreled and mount added by G&H. PreWar? So considering condition, is it basically worth the sum of its parts or somewhere near the asking price. The stock repair may be the biggest detractor IMHO, but then I am not good with wood. I see potential, but don't know where to jump in.

Thanks
Thaine

IMO the wood repair is a minor thing and could be repaired.

Looks like a commercial Sauer Mauser that was made for the American market. A least the ones I have seen and owned have the barrel information in English.

Of course you should try to get the best deal possible but I feel that the asking price is not out of line.

Thank you, that is the information I needed. I appreciate the time and assistance, these are a new area for me and I have no historical reference other than checking the typical auction sites and guns international.

The Lyman sight is about a quarter of the value of the rifle. The stock repair could be improved, other half of mount and a great bore would help justify what looks slightly high price to me?? The rifle has tons of character...

My Schlegelmilch 8mm.

I agree with SDH. This rifle has lots of character! And as Michael Petrov has stated the commercial Mauser s/n will be on the receiver flat just behind the lug. (stock must be pulled to see it)

Interestingly, I have recorded a J.P. Sauer-Mauser with s/n of 133,475 and with a Mauser S/N of 13362 (Mauser action produced 1906). If you get the chance, please post the Masuer S/N on this rifle so that I can add it to my Sauer research information. (I'm guessing here but the Mauser s/n will likely only be a few digits away from the noted number of 13362. let us know!) best regards, J.Stephens

SDH,

Might you have a picture of the right side of your Schlegelmilch that you could post? I'm in the process of a "recreation" and I'd like to see what the bolt configuration on your rifle looks like. Thanks!
