Armas Bost (Jose Bolumburu), like most Spanish shotgun makers, produced a range of side lock and box lock shotguns that covered just about every price point. Most of the Bost shotgun we see here in the US are inexpensive box lock guns, but every now and then a higher quality gun can be found. Here is a Bolumburu trap gun:

I found a Bost boxlock 20 ga a couple years ago, hidden 3rd, side clips, articulated trigger, 3 inch, beavertail, and pistol grip with original thick recoil pad.
Wood is plain, nice handling gun, have issues with intermittent ignition on the left barrel.
Internal quality is soso, but the frame is a nice bolstered and case handened coin finish.
All in all a nice middle of the road gun, but I suppose they made better ones as well. The trap gun above looks much better than my 20
As a chuckle, I am making an extra set of barrels for it in 7.7x50R.
(Can you figure that one out?)

I have a very well made 12 bore Bost tt [articulated front] ble that is a real pleasure to shoot. Suspect it was built as a waterfowler, but I use it for helice and such. Never have been able to find much out about it, but it is a lot of gun and quite nicely fitted & finished.

I once saw some pictoral refs to what I could only call avant guarde, rather ugly doubles they had built to an obvious 'price point' and possibly exported. Mine screams they could and did MUCH better work, as does Kyrie's. I've yet to have an issue w/it. It also has the hidden 3rd. fastener and side clips. Pulls are both crisp and were set up properly & w/good steel as they have not changed.

I ran across it at an auction, and it followed me home :-)

The Spanish don't do much trap, so it's likely a custom gun an American trap shooter of the 1950s (the gun was made circa 1951) either had made for him while he was in Spain, or special ordered somehow from here in the US. Victor Sarasqueta made a number of very fine trap guns for Stoeger (which sold under the name 'Zephyr Vandalia'). Here is a Vandalia:

The Jose Bolumburu was quite a find, and may be unique. Here are a few more photos:

Bolumburu: Bo lum bur u

'Bo' as in the name Bo Derik.

'lum' as in the word lumber.

'bur' as in 'Brrrr, I'm cold.'

'u' as in the sound we make when we step in something nasty.
