W. & C. SCOTT & SON RARE PATENT ACTION QUINTUPLE LOCK DBL BBL DAMASCUS HAMMER SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 ga. SN 6527. Built on a most unusual top lever action with 29-3/4" Damascus bbls with smooth concave tapered rib, dbl ivory beads, doll's head extension, dbl lump and extractors. Rib is marked "SCOTT'S PATENT QUINTUPLE BOLT" with the maker's name & address. Sides of the breech end of the bbls have small bulbous extensions to accommodate the unusual locking pins that protrude from the sides of the fences. It is mounted in very nicely figured English walnut with checkered splinter forearm that has the Scott patented center push button release. It has pistol grip stock with tear drop side panels, 14-1/8" over a checkered horn buttplate. Lockplates are engraved with a setter & duck on the left side and a fox & duck on the right side with a fine border pattern and light flourishes of arabesque patterns scattered about. Trigger guard has a flying snipe and the engraving extends about 1" over the chamber end of the bbls. Accompanied by its orig, leather, green felt-lined, trunk case with compartments for the gun & a curious 8-section compartment in the lid. Drop at the heel 3-1/8", drop at the comb 1-7/8". Weight: 8 lbs. 4.3 oz. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain 65-70% thin orig Damascus pattern. Receiver retains case colors in the sheltered areas with the lockplates retaining 75-80% strong orig case colors. Wood is sound with light handling & use marks and retains most of its fine orig finish. Mechanics are fine, strong bright bores with some scattered fine pitting and one or two spots of heavier pitting.
