Rocket Man , I don't know whether this gun would have had flat top cheering or not ,I'm not quite that old yet. Most checkering done in Th UK at present is pointed possibly with more acute angles than that which was done in the 19thC .A checkered will cut to his normal profile ,keeping to the original outline and size , usually copied from the old stock , if you want specific size diamond, profile and/or flat top or pointed [cut up] ,you have to discuss it with him first. When getting an older gun re checkered I ask my man to cut up with a less angled tool so it is not too sharp .But this can be a matter of personal preference

That is because these pores are not filled as you like on your 'plastic look' filled stocks jOe...... you need new glasses again........... cry

Also that is why this beautiful stock still looks like REAL wood as it should.......

hate to agree with jOe but they look pretty filled to me also. not all filled pores are plastic. very, very nice. jeff

never heard that one. i just assumed that by rubbing the oil finish in it filled the pores. i should add after a lot of rubbing. jeff

Regardless of the technical aspects as to whether the pores are "filled" or not I thought people would appreciate the progress update on the gun. smile Always good to hear these specifics and the banter around them though so carry on. smile
