Thanks for the kind words guys. The butt trap Low Wall may show up on the market one of these days as my good friend and client who commissioned it in 1989 passed last Sept. That rifle was really a coming out piece, one of my first rifles away from ML guns. I brought some features along with. I don't imagine ever doing another with a butt trap. That was a much modified casting from Allan Foundry, as I remember.

Here are a couple of pix of a LW .17 HMR I'm currently working on. It is my favorite rifle action by far.

Joe,

Thanks for the nice comments on my Stevens. I can't take too much credit for this one, Glenn Fewless did the great bulk of the work...fitting and match-chambering the #3 weight, Green Mountain barrel, transforming the CPA 44 1/2 lever casting to fit the 44 action, and basically "blueprinting" the old raggedy 44 action I sent him, to something that now works like the proverbial Swiss watch. I only did the wood work...our buddy "Uncle Ken" Hurst did some modest engraving for me, and this is the result.

This rifle is chambered with an Eley-spec reamer, and with Glenn's superb 10-ounce trigger, is very accurate...I have a folder full of tiny 50 and 100 yard groups, including several 100 yard groups of right around 1/2" with good ammo. The 44 action with the "rocking block" does a real good job of camming the cartridges into the tight chamber

Greg

Now you've gone and done it you guys!!! It's not bad enough my 14 y.o. daughter wants an Alvin Linden 03 Sporter LIKE MINE or a 7x57 Niedner Oberndorf Sporter LIKE MINE! Now she wants a little Custom .22 single shot LIKE YOUR'S!!!!!!!!!!!,and I don't even shoot those things! Now I'VE GOT ANOTHER STYLE OF RIFLE TO BUY! All joking aside; Christmas is coming up and if any of you decide or need to let go of a nice little rifle, suitable for a teenager...nothing fancy but quality... let me know!!! I am an F.F.L. DEALER and a transfer would be no problem. email me at 03sprg@windstream.net She already can outshoot most grown men with a .22 so this would be more of class change for her, than a new experience. Thanks as always Jerry

Nice job Greg, (a little stain would make that fiddleback really POP).
I'll bet it is a dream to shoot!

Ken's engraving makes me think of waves breaking on the beach, tasty.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. I sure love bringing some of these old girls back to shooting condition.

Steven, I really waffled on whether or not to stain this piece of wood. I actually tried several different colors on some scrap pieces, and really wasn't satisfied with any of them...so I just left it as Ma Nature made it. It's one or the other of the varieties of California English walnut, and worked and finished nicely.

I like the Winchester low walls as well. I'm rust blueing the barrel for one in .25 WCF right now, and hope to have it all completed in a few days. I think it'll be a pretty snazzy little rifle when it's all done.

Greg
