One "Best Buy" is the Model 51 Husqy that sold for $175. This is a fluid steel top lever 29 1/2" hammer gun that was still dragging on the hinge pin. Easily worth three times the selling price. The .600 Nitro on a Mercury duck gun action sold for $6100. If I had been building that gun, I would have used a fresher action, but the barrels seemed professionally sleeved. It seemed to have been well restocked and I would not have been afraid to pull the triggers. I left after the first year non ejector Model 21 with screw chokes (chokes not advertised) sold for $4400. No need to ruin the whole day.

Was that the correct forend on the Model 21?????

"Hot" would not be a word I would use to describe the Grade 2 Smith. I guess the Ideal can be cleaned up to be worth the selling price, but I would not be paying it. I would like to know what the Browning Trombone went for. It was nice. What about the Model 42? Anyone have a comment on the Model 21? HOT does refer to "Hunter One Trigger" ..... and eightbore is right ... it was pricey for a shooter ..... but looked decently original in the pics !?!? Pretty rare gun in 30 inch and English stock ... stock LOP didn't look cut !?!? I just love Christy and Patrick (and everybody at Redding) but his "pictures" are AWFUL ... just AWFUL !!!! Be Safe All

I'm just not ready to have HOT describe the Hunter trigger. To me, HOT means it's a hot gun, get my choke gauges and get ready to bid. Hunter one triggers are not a plus in an auction gun, in my opinion. The auction house is 57 miles from my house so the bad pictures and descriptions are a plus for me. By the way, the HOT was a front position trigger, a neat variation.

Chris, with that 1261 serial number, the trigger, forend and probably the screw in chokes were added "later". However, it was a very nice non ejector 21. I went there with the idea of buying it, for a different price.

I just finished reading the entire Holt catalog on the computer screen. I wish someone would advertise that they would import items bought at auction over there. I have a whole shopping list from Holt's. The two big ones for me would be the wonderful Fukert self cocking hammer gun and the W&C Scott .410 ejector gun. A scattering of tens and eights and the outrageous 32" Purdey pigeon gun add to the mix. How do you get this stuff over here without jumping through hoops? UK dealers show up at the Vintagers with barrels of guns to sell. Why can't they bring Holt's guns over here?

Steve, I would appreciate an email with particulars, prices, the difference in prices for antiques compared to modern guns, time lapses. Thanks, Bill Murphy. wilmrph@verizon.net
