In Kittery Maine, a very large gunshop by New England standards, is loctated the Kittery Trading Post. They have a wide variety of guns, and they have a website. L. L. Bean is right up the road a bit too. You could spend a couple of days just in that area. Cabelas built a store up in that area a few years ago, and has been giving the established stores some competition.
The biggest gun shop in New Hampshire, I believe, is Riley's in Manchester, and their inventory varies from time to time. In the northern tip of New Hampshire is L. L. Cote's in the town of Errol, a great stop for all sorts of outdoor things including guns. If you go to Errol take the drive over from Colebrook on Rt. 26 through Dixville Notch, it's worth the drive.
The Village Gunshop in Whitefield has some finds too sometimes.
The folliage in northern NH peaks usually around the last weekend of September. By northern I mean north of the White Mountains. Have a great trip.
