Whitey, what do the proof marks look like? (ELG is Belgian)
I believe there was some connection with Francotte and London, but can't recall...

As I recall, Francotte had a retail outlet in london in the early 1890's Most of the London marked Francottes I have seen were made to a bit higher standard than the normal but still quite high quality of the regular run. I have a "London" hammer gun that I use as my rainy weather gun; not because its a beater, but it is a bit shorter than my other grouse guns and is still quick while I'm in my Barbour.

will have to check some more. But this one is a hammer less with cross bolt etc. And real fine engraving. And worked into the engraving patern To J Norman Henry From Arthur Brock. So I am guessing it was a special order Gift.Whitey

Would help a bunch if you could post some pics of the barrel flats, too.

Randall,

I have had come across a 24 Ga BL Auguste Francotte, that it is 95% original colors. Having said this, what do you think it would be the price range I should approach the seller?

Regards,

EJSXS

Very tough to say. You might try to get the seller to price the gun before you make an offer...

Small gauge Francotte box locks sell for a fortune here, but don't know how they go over in Chile.

The seller has been asking US$3500 during the last year and no buyer in sight yet. This boxlock is a 26" barrels non-extractor gun and has a rather short stock. In addition, 24 Ga shotshells are in very limited supply here.
