Have any of you C&R 03 FFL holders out there been audited? Do you know of, or have you heard of a C&R holder who has?

C&R is a 03 FFL, I have not been audited but have seen posts of those who have.look on here; http://milsurpshooter.net/forums/113/C-R-FFL-discussion-boardI have been through a couple audits while working for a 01 many years ago.Not bad, business like but polite. If/when you get an audit, as a 03 FFL you can opt for an office one in most cases.

I got my C&R in 1999. In April of 2002 I received a call from my local BATF office saying they would like to meet with me at my convenience. I gave them a date and time and a very polite officer showed up at my door on time. He said he was there to answer any questions I had and to go over procedure in the wake of 9/11/01. I offered to show him my book, he declined, he answered all my questions and outlined the approved procedures for acquisition and disposition.
He was there about 20 minutes and left me his card, I have contacted him a few times over the years to get answers to questions.
He was from the NYC Field Office.

I have never been checked by BATF but my local "head of law enforcement" has been out three times in six years. He is a real busy body, pain in the neck. I suspect his real purpose is to try to get me to drop the C&R that his predecessor approved. His tone has been a subtle why do you need this C&R and why do you have so many guns? Since my next door neighbor is the Mayor, and he likes my collection, that is as far as it goes.
I think that the local guy is going farther than he should to check on my records and collection. I have shown him my book and he has seen a portion of my accumulation. Still I think that the less he knows or sees the less of a pain in the butt he will be.

Still I think that the less he knows or sees the less of a pain in the butt he will be. You could tell him to get a warrant next time. No judge will issue one just because the cop is curious.

Jerk he might be, but not a good idea to piss off the local top cop.

I had the same experience as Recoil Bob, after my first three year cycle. Same results, I don't think they worry about the C&R licensees too much.
I learn something every day, and a lot of times it's that what I learned the day before was wrong
