I am Looking for a source for information on determining the manufacture date of an older Merkel shotgun Model 200E, 16 ga, Serial # 32209. The fellow I bought it from told me that it was purchased new in Austria in 1952 or 53. I believe it to be an East Germain Merkel. Hope someone can help.

Should have date codes under the barrel flats in small numbers. As an example, 653 would indicate June 1953, etc.
