The one at Cosnoes is probably a good buy now that he has lowered the price a couple of times. But you do have to look at all the spec's. Did you notice the 20ga barrels are choked Cyl & CYL. Parker Repro's never came cylinder bored that I know of & this is probably the main reason this gun hasn't sold before now.
If a guy could buy this one right, it would still be a good gun IMO. If you wanted you could have choke tubes installed in the 20ga barrels & have a gun for all occations. The ad states the 20-ga. bbls. are choked Cyl/IC. Any choking could be custom ordered from the factory. This gun is a dream gun to many, but not to Larry!

A little Repro trivia. I bought a set of 16ga barrels direct from Skeuse just before the fire or flood. Since they were marked Krieghoff, I called their shop in PA and found that Krieghoff would fit their barrels to a Repro 20. Usual ship on Monday and back in hand Friday K service. I have had my K 16 barrels on 3 or 4 guns over the years, all excellent fit & function.
A Springer Spaniel, a 6# double and a fair day to hunt.

I was going off memory rather than reviewing the ad about the choking.
I don't remember anything about being able to custom order choke constrictions on the repro's. Just curious where would that information be found? Catalog's, print ad's? I don't recall ever seeing it. The common open choked repro's were marked Q-1 & Q-2 on my 16/20 set that would be .003 & .007 constrictions on the 20ga barrels.
It would be interesting to see how the Crosnoe gun is marked for chokes and see what the actual constrictions are. There's not much difference between Cylinder bore and .003 choke.

Keath Kearcher can do a ST to DT conversion. I believe the cost is $300. The auto safety becomes manual after the conversion. This is from a discussion at the parkerguns.org website forum. Greg, I think the 20 ga Repros are fine at around 6 1/2 lbs. Definitely not too heavy to carry all day. Nice weight for 1 oz pheasant loads or some duck hunting (all Repros are ok for steel in mod or looser chokes). I would not buy the 2-gauge set though.

Whether 6 1/2 is too heavy to carry all day depends on where you're carrying them. No problem for pheasants or prairie grouse; too heavy for grouse and woodcock, IMO. If I can shoot a 5 3/4# 20ga as well, why do I want a 6 1/2# 20ga--unless maybe I'm looking strictly for a target gun? In which case I'd probably look for something with longer barrels, and maybe choke tubes.
And Wild Skies, you're right: the 28ga Repro is the ticket for the grouse woods.
The main problem with Crosnoe's Repro is that it's missing a trigger. If you don't mind that, I'd say good price.

Thanks for the link. I own & have owned several repro's over the years and I have looked at one heck of a lot of them besides that. In all of these I have never seen any of them marked for chokes anything other than the standard chokes they offered.
Has anyone else seen any other markings? If not marked as such, there would be no way to tell if the chokes have been altered unless you had the original box and paper work which would verify the custom ordered constrictions.
IMO, Opening the chokes on a repro isn't a big deal if it will make you happy as the owner. The 28" barrels are a good example of this. A good portion of the 28" barrels & almost all of the 28ga 28" are choked M/F. Opening these chokes only makes them more useable as a shooter. But even with that said, if I had a new in box repro that I had put away for the long haul, there is no way I would alter the gun from the factory spec's

Opening these chokes only makes them more useable as a shooter. Depends on what you are shooting and how good you are with the gun. I pass on a lot of otherwise good guns just because the chokes have been opened.
