Hello gentleman, I acquired an Ithaca recently and thought I would post a few pictures and maybe see if Walt has any records on how this gun left the factory. I was also curious if anybody knew who the engraver may have been? Serial # is 26506 Tha [img]http://[/img] [img][/img] [img]http://[/img] [img][/img] [img][/img] nks, Stan

I'm no Ithaca expert, but there are several here that will be along to comment. Looks to be at least a grade 4 (or higher) and in excellent condition (screws don't look messed with and alot of CC left). Looks to be a very nice gun and in general Ithaca's are undervalued for what they are. More details will be helpful.

Gauge? Barrel length? Chokes? Serial # (range)? Stock measurments etc.

Like I said, someone that knows what they are talking about should be along shortly.

Thanks for the comments, I do actually own one of Walt's books and the Crass is a 12 Gauge, Grade 4, 28" barrels with very open chokes. This why I was hoping Walt can tell me what the original length of the barrels where when shipped. The Damascus barrels are in very good condition with no visible dents. All numbers match. The buttstock is a little banged up and wears what I think is a old Silvers pad which is in poor shape. Thanks, Stan

Lists as a 30 inch Quality 3. Is 4 stampted on the flats?

Walt, the water table is stamped with 12 with a 4 above that. The forearm metal is also stamped with serial # & a 4. The "4" stamp appears to be an over-stamp; maybe a "4" over a "3"?

You May be right on the overstamp. The engraving does not favor grade 3, I don't think?

Factory black powder loads only or reloads at a very low chamber pressure. Good that it is a twelve gauge as you have a lot of recipes to choose from.
