Hello, I recently had an experience with the basic model of Sabatti double rifle in 45/70 that effected me so much I had to let the gun community know.

My father has wanted a double rifle for 50 plus years, but he couldn't afford one until Cabela's offered the Sabatti Double Rifle in 45/70 for 3k. He got one, and there were SERIOUS defects in it. He sent it back, only to receive the gun of his dreams STILL BROKEN and even having the defects HIDDEN WITH COLD BLUE!!! These guns are seriously overpriced and they will not shoot more than a few boxes of ammo before wearing out. Email me at sabattistink@gmail.com before you think about buying one PLEASE!!

The fellows over at the Accurate Reloading double rifle forum have had a lot of experience with these guns, primarily in the bigger calibers, and speak very highly of them. In fact, JJ at Champlin Arms took one apart and reportedly was impressed with the quality. I would go back to Cabelas and ask them to make it right.

Did that, Cabela's sent it back to EAA and EAA sent it back to Cabela's still broken.

Maybe the $5000 gun (the deluxe model) is ok, but the basic? From everything I've seen, total garbage. Get whatever you want folks, but don't be surprised if, after 40 rounds of factory loads your gun won't open.

What loads were you shooting in the rifle?

Do you mind giving details of what went wrong and how Cabelas reacted to the complaint. All we have so far is your assertion that the rifle was defective. There are many things that can go wrong with a double rifle.

And in the end, I suppose one should not expect to get a London best for the price of a budget model.
