I had a question put to me by a friend regarding what was the original smokeless powder used in the duplex measures?

There were a slew of duplex measures made during the schuetzen days.

The most common was the Idea No.6 shown on the far right. For fun can anyone name all the measures in the picture?

You tried to confuse us by putting an old Ideal lubrisizer on the left next to the Belding & Mull, then an Ideal #5 micrometer (my personal choice) a standard #5, and the #6 previously mentioned. I don't recognize the tall tubes, but the little thing on the lower shelf looks like a Wilkinson, perhaps (?) and the Ideal #6 tong tool, funnel with a crooked neck, and assorted boxes make up the rest. I can't quite make out what the device is on the back of the top shelf... needs a better view it identify it. Am I close?

PS Didn't they sometimes use the predecessor of 4759 for primer charges in the #6? Number 80-something, if I recall.

Yep, you got them, somewhere around here I have a Duplex Wilkinson I should post a picture of some day.

The two vertical things are Niedner spotting scope stands.

Around WWII 4759 replaced SR-80, before that I guess I need to hit the books.

Du Pont Bulk Shotgun Smokeless Powder was introduced in 1893 and seems to be the smokeless of choice for duplex loading.
