I've just about completed the work needed on my new to me WC Scott side lever 10 gauge damacus barreled 10 gauge double. I'm trying to find some once fired ten gauge hulls in Remington and Federal to feed it. Can anyone help me locate some? Thanks in advance, Don Hansen.

Don,
You may way want to try Guns America, Gun Broker and Guns International under shotgun components. I looked around for a good while and found 20-30 once fired Federals locally then finally bit the bullet and bought one hundered brand new ones. Ballistic Products and Midway USA handle both Remington and Federals, so take your pick. Jack K

Finding once fired 10 gauge stuff is a lot tougher than it was a few years ago. Since the 3 1/2 inch 12 gauge got so big for waterfowling, a lot of the guys that shot a 10 have gone to them. I still shoot geese with my Parker magnum 10 gauge and save the hulls for a friend in Alaska. They're like gold to him since they're pushing 50 cents each to buy new ones. You do see them sometimes on GunBroker and the various auction sites but you've got to scout pretty hard.

You will probably need to buy new 3 1/2 " 10g hulls (federals) from Ballistic Products- then just cut them down to 2 7/8"---or 2 5/8" ?
best regards, JBP

Don, one consolation if you buy new Federal hulls--they stay together for a long time. I have quite a few that have survived for twelve reloads! My normal load is 1 1/4 oz and 1 1/2 oz. So suggest you just break down and buy a bag of them, cut 'em off and have at it.

Don, I've got some 10 gauge primed 3" hulls. I've sold my old 10 gauge duck gun and switched to 12 gauge for duck hunting. I would be glad to sell the hulls to you for whatever you pay for the unprimed ones plus shipping. Just let me know. I also have wads & cards that I didn't get around to using. I got all the stuff from Ballistic Products. Just let me know at RichardBrewster1@verizon.net.

Why not just buy RST 10GA x 2-7/8" loaded ammo and bang them off in your Damascus barrel gun (the way I do)? The hulls RST use appear to be sourced from Federal, are a tad pricey, don't need modification for 2-7/8" chambers, and I would expect you'd get a goodly number of moderate smokeless powder reloads out of them. Offered FWIW.

Thanks to all for the help! Not what I was hoping to hear, but that's life. I did break down and ordered some hulls from BP. Also bought a new loader, wads, etc. Didn't realize how much stuff has gone up since I quit shooting skeet. Is no wonder the clays games are dying a slow death.
The good side is I'll be able to load exactly what I want and be able to give the Old Girl a new lease on life. Should be an exciting fall! It's what keeps us young. Thanks again, Don Hansen.
