I'm trying to verify some information. I remember a Boothroyd story sometime ago that referred to a waterfowl gun made by Bland named The Brant. If I recall correctly the gun was made betwwen the wars, 30 inch barreled, extractor box lock, proofed for 1 1/4 oz, with 2 3/4 chambers. Can anyone verify the description or correct it? Thanks.

The gun was called "the Brent" and was available with 30"-32" barrels, extractors or ejectors, and usually chambered for 3" cartridges.I believe it was manufactured up until the 60's

The Brent (as in brent goose) was a top-lever A&D boxlock.
Standard spec was 30" steel barrels, choked full in both, raised, matt rib.
3" magnum chambers.
Stock was semi-pistol grip, length as specified with order.
Automatic safety.
Forend with Anson pushrod catch.
Weight 7 1/2lbs
Border engraving only.
It cost £74 14s 6p

I am looking now at the 1960 Bland catalogue and it is no longer listed by then. I think that they must have changed the name to 'Bland's "Magnum" Ejector Gun' as it has the same specifications. Price then in 1960 was £98/10/00 and priced in the catalogue corrected for 1964 were £114/10/00 That's inflation for you! I have a friend who has a Brent gun in original case. They do crop up from time to time and are usually a worthwhile buy. Lagopus.....

Thanks to those responding. Your information has helped me with the decision to buy the gun I described and to determine my offer. Apparently it is not a Brent, but is a very well built, heavy gun. The forend does not have a Deeley push rod, but rather a concealed spring loaded lever in the forend iron that works against a lug beneath the bottom barrel rib. It’s choked .008 and .012. It’s seen use, but had a caretaker along the way.
