Sometime, about a year ago I think, I was offered an older Leupold rifle scope. For the life of me I can't remember who it was. If this jogs a memory, please email me as I would like it for the 284 rifle that I gave my son. Best, John

Might have been a 2-7 Vari-X II, from me. If so, I sold it. But not to Thornly. It was to someone who knows what a good scope is. JL

Friend John-
Get away from those sugar cookies, quit bouncing that grandbaby on your knee and check your email.
Merry Christmas.

Leggs, I tell you its all in the rifle. It'll shoot or not, no matter the Hubble scope you mount.

Crow season is heating-up, why switch? "Five thru a crow's eye - at fifty five," with my Kimber SuperAmerica, Cabela's rimfire scope and Eley Tenex.

Thorny, They are simply remembering the time when a cheap scope was just that, assembled by little hands new to that work.
Sometime in the recent past, humans stopped being involved in the building of scopes and went into an oversight only role of the machine building them. The Vari X folks still do it the old way, but, they should for the money they get.
Here about the place I have a Zeiss, hopelessly fogged up internally, that I'm saving my pennies and nickels to hopefully have it brought back to new condition-and hopefully, the condition and optical clarity will be almost as good as some of the newer "cheap" scopes out there today, 'cept, I doubt it.
Time marches on, you know. Find any good crow receipes yet? I'm sure you could use them with the combination you are using. Best, Ted

Its like the guy who goes to a gunshow and buys a shoddy old rusty 75.00 rimfire rifle, and then posts that it's shooting with the best Anschutz after a good bore cleaning and finding the ammo it likes. Everyone cheers! because they've one just like it. ...but don't ever buy a cheap scope!

I've come around to Lowell's way of thinking... I've purchased ten different 311's. To finance this deal, all I had to do was sell my one AH Fox 16 gauge, which took all of 10 minutes to do so. What a sucker I sold that to! I got ten guns and he got only one! Now I have a shotgun for every situation! And you know, those 311's are just as good as the Fox!
