Anyone have any experience with one of these ? I have a guy wanting to trade me one for a turkey call. I believe it's made by Fausti...I hate it has a single trigger. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores...mp;mode=viewGun

I tested the Webley 700 when it was launched onto the British market.
It is a club......
Too thick in the hand, overly heavy in the woodwork generally, looks pretty unrefined in basic dress.
However, it shoots very well. Very stable, solid action and that thick wrist makes vibration minimal and flexing almost imperceptible. Predictable to swing and makes a good high bird gun or sporting clays side-by-side. All in all it shoots better than it looks and it shoots better than it should for what it costs.

I was just going to drag it around the turkey woods anyway...might even club a couple with it.
Would you know if the barrel ribs are soft soldered ?

jOe I have had five side by sides with single triggers. I had trouble with four of them.
Winchester Model 21 - lots of trouble
Winchester Model 21 - not a single failure
SKB 28 gauge - Had to oil the inertia block pin, then worked fine
Parker Repro 28 - one barrel wouldn't fire first.
Fox XE 12 gauge - If Left barrel first wouldn't reset to fire right barrel
The single trigger would worry me more than the rib solder.
Best,
Mike

Probably should make it clear that we're talking about the CURRENT Webley & Scott guns here, not the ones made in England--which first hit the market right after WWII. The new ones are horses of a very different color.

Very true Larry and an original Birmingham made one in good condition will cost about the same as the new ones and still be far superior. Beats me how they manage to sell these newly marketed ones as there are loads of original ones still around. I does cause some confusion and I think that they should have labelled it differently. Lagopus.....

A mint 700 in a 12 bore will bring $3500+ Depending on dimensions and accessories.

Not a lot of mint 700's out there. But from what I've seen, very nice 700's in 12ga go for about $1,000 less than that.
