Dave,

I still have the original forend iron, it was just the wood that was replaced. I like how you lengthened the stock on your B grade. What did you use for the extension?

Researcher,

Thanks for the photo of your $100.- Pigeon gun, it shows the ebony tip and the checkering pattern.

Daryl,

I think you are right that the serial number is 3 and B is the grade. When I saw the number 3 I thought "Naw, it can't be the 3rd gun made. That number must mean something else." I think what I will do is clean the dirt off the stock and see if I can locate the wood for the forend.

Here's a photo of the forend on my Baker Gun Company gun. Not the best but it may help.

There is an ebony tip on there. I lightened the photo but it didn't show up that way.

The stuff I used to lengthen the stock was a material that appears to be the same as the butt plate. I got it from a local guy who does put on recoil pads. It is two layers of this material that is about 1/4" thick. So that made a total of 1/2", then of the course the original style butt plate.

I am looking forward to seeing the pictures of your gun when you can get them.

OH, this is an early one. Now, I am not well versed on the really early ones like this, so this is a good education for me as well. I see many differences than the later versions I am used to. Of course the number of screws securing the birdle is one. The design of the locking lugs, for the receiver to barrel lock up. The design of the overall engraving and the way the balls of the receiver are engraved. Is this the gun we have been talking about? Good find!

Mike,

It looks like yours was the one made before mine by serial number. My side plates are a bit different. What does yours have on the bottom of the reciever and trigger guard?

Hello
Bottom has an ELK,

Trigger guard hard to make it out, but is a Mallard duck taking off to the left.

Enjoy the day
Mike

Opps, sorry, I thought that this was a picture of a different gun. Do you have pictures of the barrels though?
