Pretty awesome chokes you got on that gun there. I don't think I would try a 35 yd shot with an ounce of #5s I don't get near enough coverage with even 1.25 ounces. Good looking bird! Any idea of what the average mature bird like that weighs in MI? That would be an easy 24-27# bird around here. Brent PS. Nice sling on that gun too.

My experience has been that Turkeys are not that hard to kill within 40 yards. The idea that you need 1.5 oz and an extra full "turkey choke" is BS. My blind is on my own property and the edges of the woods they come from most often are 35-40 yards. I normally take them right there as do my guests. I've never had one run away after the shot.
I didn't weigh him but he was heavy. Slings are great when you have a heavy bird, a few decoys and a chair to carry. Not exactly grouse hunting.

. Not exactly grouse hunting. Hate to ruffle yer feathers but with blinds decoys and chairs it's not exactly turkey hunting either. It's just turkey shooting.

I'm sure you don't use calls, camouflage or anything but you injun skills. Not all of us sit naked in the woods waiting for our gobbler jOe. so...where's yours, great hunter?

Reading todays magazines and watching TV hunting shows would have people think that hunting turkeys out of a blind with decoys is sporting. It's not. Hunting is not about defeating your quarrys every means of defense....the turkeys "only means of defense" is his eye sight. so...where's yours, great hunter? Where's my what ?
