I am hoping it is possible to use those words in the same phrase. Have one $20 1907 (Roman numeral) high relief gold piece that might have some value, been in the family since minted. Now it's time to send it and some others down the road. Can anyone recommend someone on this? Thank you!

The only one I can think of and recomend is Stacks in NYC. I'd completely trust them, though they might not offer the most money. Then again, they won't rip you off either.

There is a lot of information available about these coins. Condition will greatly affect value. It may benefit you to investigate having the coin profesionally graded and "slabbed" by one of the grading services (PGCS, etc.) prior to sale. I can't comment with any knowledge about dealers. Stacks has been around for a long time. Here's a list of sales from a 2003 reference. Good luck.

Get it graded first. From what I understand, there are 5 big coin graders in the industry. Get it graded by one of them, preferably the top one. Then you will know what it is really worth. I understand the top company is a tough grader, but it holds the most weight as far as getting top dollar.

A friend of mine recently got into this game. He was buying up coins at local auctions with the intent to resell them on ebay. What he found was a MS 63 grade from one firm did not carry the same weight as a MS 63 from one of the top five. Anyway, he put $15k into coins before he sent some off to be graded. ALL his coins came back as UNGRADEABLE! Why? Because it is common for dealers and auctioneers to wash the coins to make them look in better condition. I guess washing really affects the value. He is now selling all his coins at a local auction over the next few months. He says he should only be down$2k or so, but I don't know...
