Hi, I just won a Keuchenreuther Combination gun in 6.5x57 / 16G with a newish Zeiss 4x32 in claw mounts on a German auction site, I went over to see it in Cham, Germany before bidding on it. It was sold in Cham where the gunmaker is based but was from a different dealer so I would guess the Jäger had had it serviced at the makers always. All I know is they began making guns around 1650 in Regensburg, Germany. Does anyone else know anything about this maker or has a gun from them? Regards Martin

I don't know how well this will copy, I worked on a project many years ago trying to sort them all out. This was originally a chart I made up. Where is Bavaria are you , I spent two and half years in Zirndorf with a few camping trips to Grafenveer (sp?).

I live in the German zip code area 92363 if you check it on google earth that will show it up well. I also have a single percussion duelling pistol by Johann Adam of Regensburg in like new condition I guess it was in a peaceable mans ownership, it must have been made between 1794-1869 I would tend to the latter as it is percussion. Did you do Oktoberfest when you were here? Martin

You live in a good area to find Keuchenreuther's work. When I was there very little if any firearms were for sale. Not that I could have bought them anyway. I made the trip over to Munich one time for the Oktoberfest and was told I had a good time.

Don't have a gun from them, but I do remember the maker as having a good reputation when I was living in lovely Bayern. You are in a very nice part of Nieder Bayern. Really liked Regensberg and there are some decent old towns in that area. Trink eins fuer mich ins gaeststubbe, bitte sehr!

Try this edition of the German Gun Collectors Association Journal: http://www.germanguns.com/journals/journal5.html You can order it on line and it does cover Kuechenruether guns.

Hi Quailnut, I was in Melbourne Florida last week attending my pals memorial and what a culture shock it was for me. I had not been to Florida for 25 years Ugh!!!! Its back to the beer and pretzels for me next week. I am just drifting around the midwest states till my return to get a change of scenery. Shame, I will miss the southern SxS. Martin
