I have a Fox/Savage Arms Utica NY I can't pull triggers on. I may have fired them on dummy caps and then removed forarm and barrel. Any advice? Or off to the smith? Thanks, Bill
probably need to add it is single trigger.

Bill, not to worry. Look at the receiver, there will be a rectangular slot on the top side, look inside there and you will see two levers. These are the cocking levers/hammers. If they are down toward the bottom of the receiver then they are indeed tripped and must be recocked. To recock them, gently slip a flat blade screwdriver underneath them and pry them up. They will click and stay up when they are cocked.

Put the barrels and forearm back on. Open the barrels and they should recock the hammers. If the hammers don't reset, pull the barrels back off and inspect the cocking slide on the bottom of the lump to see if there is any damage to it. It should freely slide back toward the breech end and spring return to the original position. This slide is what engages the levers in the reciever slot and cocks the hammers. There is also a flat rectangle metal extension on the bottom of your forearm metal. It must engage with and push against the cocking slide on the barrel lump. You may have just re-installed the forearm without this extension pushing the cocking slide.
