Bought this 12 gauge sxs . At first sight it looked like J P Sauer but the name on the bbls is Emil Kerner & Son . Fine well built gun double under lug, Greener cross bolt, cocking indicators. Any info on maker would be appreciated. Will try to post some pics. when i bring my camera home. RD Show

I have a lovely Kerner 16 gauge with a blitz (triggerplate) action that weighs about 5-10.
Left barrel marked EMIL KERNER SUHL and the right has only ST.LOUIS.
No idea except it was made for the American market?
Dietrich Apel told me Kerner probably was an outfitter and didn't actually make the guns.

What little info I have shows Emil Kerner as a gunmaker in Suhl from 1910, sometime around 1926 it became Emil Kerner & Sohne. There were two other Suhl gunmakers with the Kerner name, Ernst &Rudolf.

Everything that was everything started out it's journey west through St. Louis in them olden days. Maybe he was cashing in on the name?

Emil Kerner & Sohn is a sporting goods retailer and sold guns marketed under that trade name, I do believe they are still in the sporting goods business. The Kerner guns I've seen looked like they might have been made by both Merkel and Jp Sauer.
Best, Dustin
