I've had an A. Jansen 2 3/4" 28 ga. boxlock for quite a while. The gun looks exactly like a Francotte 14E but with the Jansen markings (and Brussels Belgium location)engraved on the barrels. The gun has identical case coloring and basic engraving to other Francottes I own. Back years ago, someone told me that Jansen was a smaller Belgian gunmaker who generally only made bespoke guns and bought barrels and frames from Francotte. For quite some time I've wanted to learn more about Jansen and as a newer member to the site decided to see if anyone can shed further light on them for me. By the way, the gun has 26" F/F tubes, ejectors and third fastener, 13 15/16" LOP over a checkered butt and weighs 4# 8oz. I don't know who to submit pictures yet but will try. Post pictures of the proof marks and we should be able to tell exactly when it was made. On a side note. A 28ga is no longer allowed for hunting in Belgium which is ashame.

Adolphe Jansen was a royal gun maker. That is he held the title of Gun Maker to His Royal Highness. That does not mean that every gun produced by him was owned by the king
