Hi Fellas,

Sorry this didn't come about, but it wasn't for lack of trying. The following link details Lyman's response:

It would seem to me in this economic down turn that there would be a small custom tool maker out there that would jump on the opportunity to get one of his machines and a worker back into action. I doubt if Lyman would jump on anyone for patent infringement since they show no interest in doing the work.

Bob, Joined your post late, 16 group and here. Roll crimping always has caught my attention, but haven't made the switch. By chance do you have a photo of the Lyman style roll crimper. I've got a couple of the crank style stuck somewhere, but don't quite know what your talking about. Hope all is well with you and yours and having a good hunting season. Waterfowl and upland in Northern Michigan stinks with a big S. Randy

Randy,

The link below will take you to 16ga.com and the thread in which it was first posted. Scroll down and you'll see the crimp head as well as paper and plastic hulls done with same:

http://www.16ga.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7496&start=0

It was also posted here at DoubleGunShop by me at about the same time (early June) .....if you look back several pages in the earlier thread topics. The head as you can see is pretty small and came in the various gauges. Lyman also made a hand crank machine to hold these heads, though a drill press works just as well or better, IMO. Go through all pages of the 16ga.com thread linked above and I believe you'll see the larger machine pictured. If it's not there, then it's in the earlier Lyman roll-crimp thread on this site (c. early June, 2009.) I distinctly remember someone posting a picture of the machine. Hope that helps....

I've still an extra (unused) 12 ga. Lyman head available, should you decide you want one.

Bob, Thanks for the reply. That would be a Yes on the crimp tool. Please e-mail cost etc to: [ raven@freeway.net ] Those photos of the roll crimps are beautiful. I've always envisioned my hunting loads of paper and roll crimped. Maybe it's a reality after all. Rumor has it, the spent paper hull will bring back a smell reminicent of our youth. Randy
