Glenn....LOL if you look really close at the first picture (the swamp scene) you can find my little turtle ;-)
As for the finish, I agree that the stock looks pretty good in the pictures, however, the finish is badly done and has terribly streaks, shiny spots, etc. Doug already worked it over once just trying to see if he could fix up what was done with only limited results. We both agree it just needs to be stripped and refinished to get it right.
One of my main purposes of posting this thread was to highlight the artisans involved. Most here know Ken Hurst. Doug Mann and his work need no words from me. Many may know Ernest Marlette and his outstanding skill in polishing and hot salts bluing.
John Reese, the fellow who did the checkering, is probably a bit unknown to many but as you can see he did a wonderful job, on time, and on budget. I would certainly use him again.
