Hi Derrick!

I used to use the DX12 center post wad a lot, in fact I have at least 1,000 sitting around. I can't shoot cartridge guns any more so I stopped using them (most muzzle loaders are already cylinder).

I really liked that wad. I was shooting a Merkel SxS with choke tubes installed. For sporting clays or five stand I usually went with .10 and .20 restrictions, although if there were a lot of long shots I could go .15 and .25. Then if something was close in, I would simply go to the stash of DX shells in my bag, either barrel would shoot close to cylinder, and no switching choke tubes. It's like having a third choke. For dog training I would use ,20 and .35 chokes, and if we had to go into the woods, I'd drop one of the loads below into a barrel, and I was ready in seconds. Works in the field too!

I loaded them myself mostly, usually 1 ounce loads of 8.5 shot. but I had a few 1 1/8 ounce of sixes for odd upland situations.
I confess I cannot remember the exact loads that I used, but they came right out of BPI's big books of sporting clays loads.

I was using a MEC grabber to load. You need to use the steel shot drop tube with the DX (which actually works with almost all 12 guage wads, so you don't have to change it all the time) or the wad's post will stick onto the drop tube and the whole thing will come out when you retract the tube. After making a mess and calling BPI (They explained the fix in about 15 seconds) I had no more problems over a number of years of shooting.

If you want, drop me a line, and I will send you a few handfuls.

Didn't get your message, Derrick.

I had a really old e-mail address on here. Sorry about that. It's updated now
