I know this is off topic but I thought some of you might be interested im seeing this. They are by far the biggest bear tracks that ive ever seen in my 30+ years in Alaska. I took the picutes on a bear hunt by King Cove Alaska a number of years ago. Note my pocket knife in one of the tracks and not the stride of the bear in refferance to my rifle. Also note the with of the tracks compared to the 4-wheeler tracks.
No I did not ever see the bear that made these tracks.

They're larger than any I've seen on Kodiak. But, I've only been one time so far! I hope to top your's and see the bear through my scope next time.

Huge tracks! I would like to have seen them being made!

Was goose hunting in Cold Bay in Nov. 1992, and ran into a Game Warden one evening at a restaurant/bar there. Earlier that day he was trying to put the bite on a couple of hunters that he suspected were shooting more than their limit of geese. He said he was sneaking down a beach to do some surveillance, and walking towards him was about the biggest boar he'd ever seen. He high-tailed it back in the direction he had come!

The friend I was hunting with, spent 4-5 years teaching in King Cove. One of those years, I believe it was 1992 also, was the year the little boy was snatched off a road by a brown bear, while his mother and sister watched! He said the bear population in the vacinity of the village was thinned down considerably by the village populace after that incident.

For sure big bears on the Peninsula!

Does the saying, "Once you've been amongst them there is no such thing as too much gun" apply here???

Your right about the little boy and his name was Andre Bear.
For those that dont know King Cove is about a 10 min flight from Cold Bay. In miles I dont know as there is no road.

Ok Bob
What Lefever would you go after that one with? Do you think the 45 Cal Sniper rifle would take him down?

I wish but my Lefever rifle is only 40 cal and I dont think Dan had Mr. Brown in mind when he built it. If they have teeth and claws.....I have used the same gun for 30 years and its a 375 IMP. I want something that will go all the way through them from one end to the other.

Bob,
You're looking good.
I'm not sure I would want to surprize that bear on the road. Heck, a 200 pound black bear is big in these parts.

You ain't going to see this bruin. It didn't get this large by sticking around to confront humans. I would feel perfectly safe with my .454 loaded with my beloved 330gr 1300fps hard lead loads from Georgia Arms.

Boy
Georgia is where I would go to have my brown bear ammo made. If you feel safe with a hand gun they must have little bears in W KNIEI
