I just got back from Haussman's Hidden Hollow in Friedsville, PA.
Three of us from Minnesota made the journey to participate in the Great Northeastern Side by Side Championship. The weather was perfect and the many vendors made for a very nice 3 day shoot. The sporting clay course was set in such a way as to mimic true bird hunting targets. The entire Haussman family took care of loading the traps and quickly taking care of problems on the course. Everything went flawless. As a way to evaluate the toughness of the targets, I noted that the high score in all the sporting clay events was at or near 80%. Many sporting clay events now demand a top score in the 90's to win first place. In my opinion, this makes sporting clays too much like skeet or trap shooting. After he sets a course, Ernie always shoots each station with a .410 just to make sure the targets are fair. The fairness of the targets combined with the many true pair is what made this course so enjoyable.
Thank you to Ernie Haussman and his whole family for putting on such a great event
