If you are looking for a rare opportunity to buy a 28ga. A1 Special Parker, look no further than this jewel. For only $69,000 you can have a an 'upgraded' gun with a spurious serial number....

It's also going to be very, very hard to find another A-1 special with a Dog's Head buttplate. The rarity of this gun is getting greater all the time.

Silly me- but I thought Jim Gary was a master barrel man at Parker in Meriden, and retired before the move to Ilion in 1937. A DHBP on a A-1 Special, regardless of gauge- sort of like buying a new Porche, with Pirellis- and going down to Bell Tire or Pep Boys (Manny, Moe & Jack) and having the Pirellis replaced with "All-Tred" specials--At least this schmuck with earlaps trying to sell this "pusedo-upgrade" doesn't try to foist it off as an original- I'll betcha as few genuine A-1 Special Parkers exist in 28 gauge as honest politicians in Cook Co., Illinois--

$69,000 for a upgrade? and not a very good one at that!(in relation to a true A-1 Special). They are out of their minds.

I'd buy it but I don't want a single trigger.

I wonder if he would take a Cashiers Check from a Nigerian Bank? Check is worth about what that gun is to a real collector.

One of the recent Galazan/Remington AAHE 28s @ $49,000, for someone who wants such a pea-shooter, is a much better deal--the Double A quality rings true. What surprises me about the "A-1-S" is the crude engraving, no flur-de-lis drop points, and single ridge behind the bolsters. I doubt that Runge and DelGrego called it an "A-1-S" upgrade, because it just doesn't measure up, DHBP or no.

The gun is well pictured and honestly represented as an up-grade by someone who seems confused about the value of "Yes, but..." Parkers. The real question when putting a value on such a gun is: What would it be worth if they left it alone? However, "...everyone to his own taste," said the cowboy as he lifted the heifer's tail. EDM

Exactly - the gun would have been worth more if left in VHE shape. Even if it were half-worn out.

A "halfway" upgrade like this one leaves me yawning. I mean, why bother? It was an attempt at 'something' but exactly what??
