Why ship? A friend had a Purdey 20 bore he was going to have Julia's sell for him, and Wes Dillon- Manager-had it picked up at his residence by a bonded insured carrier-cost was included in the "heavy Vig" Jimmy J. charges both consignor and the end purchaser. For the kind of dinero Julia's and other of that high end auction service charge, they can offer this service indeed. I don't trust UPS, USPS at all- Fed Ex (lax) ain't all that zippy either, and gun shipments via those guys are the next item on the "hit list" (after the gun show loopholes) the new Feds will be looking into-

Oh, by the way, if you ship USPS with a time sensitive delivery date - ie, two day, next day, via air, etc, it will go on a FedEx plane. If you can get a better rate, ship it USPS, and you will be getting the FedEx treatment in between runs through the USPS system.

FWIW

Registered mail may be slow, but it is dead secure. In the history of the post office, they have lost only 3 registered items (2 were as a result of a 19th century train robbery).

It is the only way I will send valuable documents and items for clients.
