"Had to have" a Rock Island Auction offerred August Schuler (Suhl) 7mm Mauser. The rifle turned out to be an Oberndorf, and of 1908 manufacture. The scope was described as pitted and optics hazy. It was an AJACK (A.JACKENKROLL). BOY was it hazy, like smeared mustard inside. Took the rifle out to zero and wasn't even hitting paper at 50yds. Took it for service locally, which apparantly is a service center for various brands. They do vintage scopes as well. I didn't even realize it but the front bell had been dinged so badly it was offcenter a 1/4 cm! Doh! Just wanted to report for any who have vintage scopes such as these not to give up. For $70 they 'cleaned; aligned; resealed; reset the objective; reticle parallax-optical center-POI; straightened the bent tube; re-treated the optical lens; repaired the separated erector lenses.' I am amazed they could do this! Not having fired it yet, I wanted to share the company is ABO (USA), INC. of 14041 SW 139th Ct., Miami, FL 33186 telephone 305-859-2010 (www.abousainc.com) and the manager is Shin. **Please move post if needed.
