Thanks, Greg. I sure wish I had bought a lot more of the Albright traps when they were available, the Beisens are ~ 4X higher! Of course that was 20 years ago....
I didn't notice any lining in the butt traps I saw, just finished wood. Does anyone know if he lines/d his cavities, and if so, with what material? I have used green felt, black felt and leather but am still looking at alternatives. I have seen a cavity lined with the spray-on-type floc, but it left me cold.
BTW the Lenard Brownell coil-type cleaning rods (unfortunately he's gone now, Billingsley may still sell them) are a perfect accessory for the cavity and there's plenty of room for a jag and patches, and even a Tedd Cash oil dropper! Another alternative for a straight rod is to drill individual holes for each section like the issue Krag, to prevent rattle, with another area for the jag & patches and another hole for the Cash oil bottle. I always leave enough extra space to temporarily store the removable front sight hood when necessary and, on one rifle, have even made a small leather pouch to temporarily keep the screw-on lens covers for the Unertl scope held safely inside the cavity when shooting.
