On Saturday I ran into a guy with a beautiful gun that he said was a Ithaca 7e. It was fully engraved, case colored, had little gold birds, etc. inlaid and the stock was so beautiful that I at first assumed that it was a replacement (it wasn't). It was a 16 ga. and he told me it had a 20 ga. barrels as well. According to him, it was one of the last guns made by the factory.
Why am I posting this: he was hunting pheasants on a New Jersey WMU full of greenbriars. God bless him!!!

Was it an Ithaca Classic Double? That sounds like a gun that was sold by a shop near me!

We didn't talk for too long. He said it was one of the last guns to come out of the factory and that he bought it from a person (whose name I forget) in Moorestown. I assume that that person had a shop.

Bill Davis is the authority on these guns but it sure sounds like an ICD made gun?? (Ithaca Classic Doubles, Victor NY different from the Ithaca Gun Company, Ithaca NY and about 50 years in time.)

He asked me what I thought it was worth and, not knowing anything more than that it was beautiful, I said "thousands." He told me that he once had an estimate of $35-40000. Are the ICD guns worth that much?

Well-I'd say that is wishful thinking. An ICD Grade 7 with one set of barrels might fetch 15K. But you never know--there are so few ICD guns in grade 7 or higher, a gun could bring more to the right buyer. 16/20 combo's are scarce, because not many 16ga. barrels had arrived from Merkel, when ICD folded. The gun you mention was, in fact, one of the last 2-3 guns put together.
