Wonder what's up with Bass Pro Shops. About 6 weeks ago I was told by the manager of the Denver Fine Gun Room they were no longer buying used guns. A few days ago I went to the "new" website and find that the listings for all Fine Gun Rooms are severely truncated--next to nothing. This from a place that used to have literally hundreds of 5 figure Italian and English doubles in inventory and online. At the same time, Cabela's online inventory seems to be growing, esp Parkers, LC's, Lefevers.

I'd guess the Bass Pro Boyz have gotten out the Windex and polished up their Crystal Balls-with the new POTUS a vehement anti-gunner, why not be ahead of the "coming curve?" Of course, when some pinheads terrorize a playground with Ugly Stix and Rapala's instead of AK-47 clones, well the new Adm. is anti-anything that old Karl Marz didn't approve- which ain't much- I have a good friend who is a Gun Mgr. for one of the "Big Three": Cabela's, Scheel's or GM (your guess I ain't tellin"--and he, like me, doesn't like what lies ahead for sporting gun retailing-
In an area just a few clicks North of my "Hole In The Wall" two of the three "Big-Box" stores dropped their shotgun, rifle and muzzle loader sales, now they have decided to close out the ammo after this Fall-read the handwriting on the wall lads-it ain't good the comin' Tide--RWTF

I was told by a friend that he talked with a Cabelas gun room employee that stated Cabelas was no longer purchasing used guns for the time being. No surprise about Cabelas or BP. This discussion was prior to the election by a couple weeks and I suspect has little to do with the President elect and more to do with the economy freefall.

Different with some of the mid-size gunshops, they can't keep enough inexpensive handguns, run-of-the-mill sporting rifles, shotguns and ammo in stock. Could be because of the new Prez! It's the tight economy, no one is selling cars, high or low end - so it's the same with Purdeys.

Seems to me that now might be the time to stock up, especially if OBAMM is going to make it a lot tougher in the near future for us to add to our collections. Perhaps someone can come up with an airtight waterproof non-metallic storage unit that can easily be buried and located by GPS coordinates. Prices are bound to go much higher if that comes to pass.

...airtight waterproof non-metallic storage unit that can easily be buried and located by GPS coordinates... PVC or ABS pipe with glued end caps. Readily available in diameters up to 8", even larger if you look around.

What you guys are posting is apparentely accurate for sporting guns and I believe it althought I don't know why this would be as Obama and his gang will go after the military lookalikes first. The walls are practically bare at the Scottsdale Gun Club with all the available AR15s and Semi-auto AK47s and the like flying out the doors all week. And this is a big store with lots of inventory. The same seems to be true for semi-auto pistols. Jim

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081107/ap_on_re_us/obama_gun_salesgun sales are way up,best invesment right now might be high cap mags, ammo of all types(500% increase in taxes and registraion of sales proposed),and of course if you want a AR or other semiauto you had better get to it.I worked a salesman for a large gun dealer when the last AWB went in place, record sales and prices went up faster then the dow is dropping now. BP and Cabales really over price their guns IMO and they may not have enough buyers working for them that know what they are doing. The big question of course is what will you do when the time comes to register them??We,well at least most of us realize that is the first step to confiscation.

If you ever need to bury your guns then it's time to dig them up.
