While preparing to return from a Blue Grouse trip, I took apart my Francott 12 ga. SXS Double. Just like I've done so many times. Except this time I wasn't thinking. I opened the action "before" removing the fore-end. Then, instead of closing the action, I just removed the fore-end, while the action was partially open. The second I did it, I knew I screwed up. Then, I put the barrels back on the action and pulled the triggers.

Well, now I can't get the fore-end back on the gun.

Can anyone help?

The gun is a VLD era Francott 12 ga. ejector gun.

All you have to do is manually cock the ejectors. I did it on my BSS, but that was years ago and I don't play with my Sterlingworth ejector, so I forgot how to do it. Just be thankful you gun isn't LC Smith ejector.

I've had a couple or so Francottes..Bloody good Guns
It's been a while though, I 'm sure I've done same.
Can't you just be a little "rugged" as you put the forend back on?
I believe that worked for me, a while back.Try pushing the Rod while doing so.
What grade is you Gun?
Aren't they great???

Yep, that's how I got that paddletail fe on discharged action of that ole' BSS. After spinnin' and making noise like Tazzzz the tasmanian devil becuase it would not go on I just forced that thing on. Honestly, unless one uses pretty darn big hammer notin' is going to hurt Jap Browning BLE. I WOULD BE CAREFUL with this Belgian gem it ain't a toolish as the BSS. Me thinks cocking ejector rods prior to assembly is much smarter approach. Wee, wee?

cock the hammers in both the action and the forend.....Avoid the force part is my recommendation. Sometimes gentle cracking the barrels open is enough to get the fore end back on.

While I am anything BUT a prude, I find the title of this thread offensive and out of place here. We frequently read that member's kids, boys and girls, read this forum. Please clean it up.
Thank you,

I agree with Jim. The wording offends me as much as if it was spelled correctly..MDC

Use brass/plastic/wood "block" to push the action cocking rods/lever sufficient to cock the locks. Do the same for the ejector hammers. Reassemble. If your interpertation of above doesn't work, refer to more knowledgable response or show photos of offending parts.

Agree that the title is out of order for this site.
