Are there any disadvantages with a German over/under shotgun in 12 gauge with a single Kersten lock vs double Kersten locks?
Strength, etc.?

No disadvantages, only another system.

I remember that the Kersten lock is also called a "Double Greener".
Kersten is 2 ears, Greener only one.
There is no such thing as "Double Kersten".

Regarding strength of the whole system, there are many other factors, so counting ears alone does not tell much.
One disadvantage of the Kersten system is that those ears may be annoying when reloading.

Also, below: Double Kersten Locks - Two such locks; one on either side of the barrel set. A system of lockup usually found on German over & under shotguns such as Merkel and Simson.

as listed on this site: http://www.hallowellco.com/double_kersten_locks.htm
