Posted By: NCTarheel Request information on Gene Lechner.... - 01/01/21 06:53 PM
In the late 1970s, Gene Lechner made an octagonal barrel for John Amber, the editor of Gun Digest, for a Ruger No. 1. I have tried to research information on Gene Lechner, but I am not finding any information. Is anyone familiar with Gene Lechner that could share some information on his background and barrel making with me? Thank you for any assistance.
google is full of information on this guy. I hope you finish your research on this great gun.
For whatever reason, I'm getting nothing on Gene Lechner from Google...there are a number of individuals named Gene Lechner in the Google listing, but none have ever made a rifle barrel nor do they know anything about metalsmithing.
Here's his obituary. Note that his complete name is Eugene.

HalfaDouble, thank you so much for the assistance. This explains a lot...the barrel he did for John Amber was probably one of the last barrels he made.
Just google "lechner gunsmith" and you will get much. The search continues.
