I would like to try and get some information on a rifle I own. The gun is Marked custom built by Pachmayr Los Angles California.
The grip cap is engraved Donated by Nan and Frank Pachmayr SSCI.
The gun is built on a Mauser action, hand engraved with an Elephant on the bottom shell plate and a Rhino on the trigger guard.
I know SCI Safari Club International, but SSCI ???
Does someone have the records on Pachmayr custom rifles.

Later in life frank donated a huge amount of guns to various Wildlife clubs, Extremely high-end shotguns to ducks umlimited etc. you can read all about it in this book . Rock island auction sold a bunch of pachmayr collection about year ago so many of those guns are currently on market. Here is a rifle that sounds similar to your own.

Can anyone give me a name of a forum where I might be able to get more feedback on my rifle?

You might find info in this book:

Don't know of a Pachmayr specific forum.

Yes I purchased this book. Actually found a new one on eBay for $24.00 including shipping. Looking forward to reading it.
I’m surprised at how little information I can find on the internet concerning Pachmayr rifles.
I am looking for a forum where I would have a chance of chatting with some members who have some knowledge of Pachmayr custom guns.
Hoping to find out more on my gun in particular.

Try nitro express or accurate reloading.

Yup, those two websites. You will have to wade through various subforums, but the expertise is on those sites.

Dang that is nice!

Thanks guys. I tried to sign up for the nitro express forum but have not received approval yet. Picked the gun up yesterday and it’s even nicer in hand.
Had a Winchester model 70 Safari Express about 40 years ago but traded it off. Recoil was pretty stiff.
Will buy some ammo and shoot it once quail season ends.
The barrel is magna-ported not sure that will help a lot but once I held this gun I had to have it.

Thank you sir.

You could always keep it and load it to mid 45-70 ballistics.

Yup- Frank was generous to DU. About 20 odd years ago, he donated a re-done shotgun to each States' DU Committee, and MI received a 12 gauge M21- dressed up with false sideplates, and one of our Chapter members, Larry Parker (yes- Parker, as in "The Old Reliable" shotguns, bought a $100 ticket, and was the winner. He took it in the shorts when the IRS valued his "prize" at $20,000.00 and he had to pay a capital gains tax, just as if he won the lottery. He has tried for years to find a buyer, which is his right and option, but no sale. "Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it"_- words of wisdom indeed..RWTF

Probably not, but as this an open forum, and you opened the Pachmayer window, I thought I'd reinforce the general feeling of appreciation for his presence in the hunting/shooting world. Sad to see, you feel like I just pissed in your Post-Toasties! RWTF

$3525.00

Gun sold well below my estimate...the $12,500.00 "buy it now" was a pipe dream.
