Hi, I recently came of age and am legally allowed to buy rifles. I am currently looking for a double rifle. I read many classics by Roosevelt and Capstick and about their experiences and gained a interest in this particular form of rifle. I am looking for a cheap double rifle in maybe 30-06 calibar or larger. I can't really afford anything that expensive.
Thanks
I have two over and under 30-06 brand new in the box. $400 + shipping each and I'll give Dave the $10. They are baikels. If you are looking for cheap sxs rifles aren't we all.
Can you maybe post some pictures?
Not mine but exactly like this one. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=107586560
Has anyone heard of the Remington Spr 22?
Yes they are running about $900 right now. Some have good luck with them regulating and some don't. I'll buy one if they ever make the 45/70.

Mike already mentioned the SPR. If you would accept a o/u then look for a finnclassic / valmet / tikka 412 or 512. The dealer for these is http://doublegunhq.com/

The next step up is the Chapuis. You can see one here:

Ken at Kebco can usually get one for a cheaper price. http://www.kebcollc.com/

Pete
The words "cheap" and "double rifle" generally do not come together with good results in the same sentence. A good double rifle is wonderful, a cheap double rifle can be a hateful. My advice is skip the cheap or starter grade double, save your money and come back to the topic when you can spend $2000+ (for a O/U) or $4000+ (for a SXS).
Mike, Talked to my dealer yesterday and he has one for me in 45-470. Will get it Tues. and start my quest with it, already shoot 45-70s so have all the fixings. Have 2 friends with them one in 06 the other 45-70. All they have done with them is some plinking and they like them. This is about as close as I'll get to a real double rifle probably at my age. Darn sure didn't need another firearm, more to give to the grandsons (4).
