Hallo,
Is there any source of information ( a book or catalogue for instance ) that can be helpful when it comes to evaluate authenticity and apprise the value of certain long firearms?
Ideally, it would have color pictures of most recognisable elements of rifles made by famous gunsmiths ( european ones ).
Something for newbie like myself...

Try "Modern Sporting Guns" by Christopher Austyn,The Sportsman Press, 1994. Also" Classic Sporting Rifles" by
Christopher Austyn, The Sportsman Press, 1997. And "Gun Engraving", Christopher Austyn, Safari Press 1998.
Color pictures, factual things to look for in evaluating long arms, enjoyable reading, and that's it!
Enjoy
Herb

trouble is there aint just one book...better start looking for another book case as well...google is probably your best resource in one place, so to speak.
