rifle / shotgun combo. has side hammers and all it says is AH Primton. Honeyeye New York.

I have very little on him.

Arthur H. Plimpton of Honeoye Falls, NY.

One source lists him as converting muzzle loaders to breech loaders.

Another as a maker of percussion guns. He was apparently active in the 1890's, perhaps earlier.

Also found some material that show him as owning a jewellery store.

Do you have a gun made by him also?
No gun. Just the info I shared.

What you have here is commonly called a MULE EAR GUN. Designed after the Jenks action of pre-Civil War era. Commonly found Upstate NY and surrounding areas. Was a popular design for hunting in areas that were forested due to the side hammer design. I have one made in Cuba NY by R.R.Thurston circa 1860-67. It is .41 over. 41 cal. full rifled bbls. Also another .45 cal over 12 ga. rifle-shotgun combination from another small hamlet in upstateNY. that escapes me now.
