Hello,

Any thoughts on putting an overshot card (10 ga.) on top of a slug, to keep it in the brass shell.
I am using Magtech 2.5" brass shells, powder, 2x cards, wad, card, wad, 2x cards, slug (1 1/4 oz) then crimping on the top band of the slug.
My problem is the slug is sized to 0.726" the brass is 0.755" at the mouth.
So I am having to crimp the **** out of the brass to keep the slug in.
I just picked up some 10 ga. overshot cards and was planning to use one of these on top of the slug and less crimp to hold the card / slug in.
Or even no crimp, card is pretty tight in the case mouth, maybe a little elmer's.

Any thoughts, experience ?

My one concern is the slug not staying centered in the case, accuracy ?
My next concern is the card in front of the slug, obstruction ?
My last concern is the card in front of the slug, accuracy ?

You might try the slug without the crimp and overshot card and just hot glue the slug to the brass. I hot glue my over sized overshot cards. It is quick and there is no set up time. Might work for the slug. What primer and powder are you using?

Card over slug is not good.
Is it 12G slug? Why you don't use plastic case? Is it enough height for roll crimper? Slug has to be fasten tight in case.

Would it work to simply patch the slug with a denim cloth patch of around 30-32 thousandts like a patched round ball in a muzzleloader? That would fill the void and keep the slug tight in the brass shell for accuracy. Might want to lube the patch and make sure the patched slug will go down the bore before shooting it!

EDIT: Thought again about this, and if this is a rifled bore situation then naturally it's not going to work. Initially thought it was a "slug down a smoothbore" situation, and if this is the case then it might work after first making sure the patched slug will pass down the bore.

As I stated in the title the slug is already bore sized.
I did not want to use plastic because, I am reloading the brass like conventional brass cases, in an RCBS Press.
I do not have conventional shotgun reloading equipment.
I am going for the old school look and feel of the brass.
