Quote:
Hello everyone…In mid-August, we will be updating our Firearms, Weapons and Knives Policy to place more restrictions around gun-related items. Once these changes take effect, we will prohibit listings of any firearm part that is required for the firing of a gun. This includes items like bullet tips, brass casings and shells, barrels, slides, cylinders, magazines, firing pins, trigger assemblies, etc. Please read the Firearms, Weapons and Knives Policy for more details on our current policy.
As you may know, eBay does not allow the listing of any items which are regulated by individual states or the federal government; however, there are still a large number of firearm-related parts that are legal and are widely available in retail stores. These items have also historically been allowed on eBay.

After learning that some items purchased on eBay may have been used in the tragedy at Virginia Tech in April 2007, we felt that revisiting our policies was not only necessary, but the right thing to do. After much consideration, the Trust & Safety policy team – along with our executive leaders at eBay Inc. – have made the decision to further restrict more of these items than federal and state regulations require.

This new update continues to encourage safety among our community members and brings our policies in the U.S. and Canada in closer alignment with our existing policies in other markets around the globe.

Sincerely,

Matt Halprin
Vice President, Trust & Safety

Stock just went up in Auction Arms and Gun Broker. . .
It is just an excuse. Ebay has been anti-gun for a long time.
They have been anti-gun since their inception. However, there were occasional tidbits to be found.
I have bought quite a few gun parts off of eBay. Even some of the larger sporting arm parts companies have stores on eBay.
You can send an email to the man responsible for this at mhalprin@ebay.com

If your not sure the mail got through you can "Resend" it many, many times.

You can sit on this forum and moan and bemoan policies you don't agree with. However; It's the same as preaching to the choir.
I filed a complaint against Ebay today with the Anti-trust Division of the Federal Trade Commission. My position is their new firearm parts policy is a violation of the Sherman Anti-Trust Act and is a "restraint of trade" issue.
I'm an amateur here and it would be helpful to get some legal support from any lawyers who happen to be members of this forum.

Does it count that I got banned from the ebay forums ;-). http://pages.ebay.com/community/boards/index.html
They are not happy with my post of emails of the officers of the company. They deleted all of them.

I also wrote Mitt Romney about his National Finance Co-Chair, Meg Whitman, CEO, eBay. Romney is now saying he is pro-gun, he has not answered as of yet.

I agree that there are a lot better places to post your feelings on the subject of gun control. Many of us posted at Brady on their Blogs, now they have shut them down because it was 90%+ pro-gun.
The Big cheese, Matt Halprin doesnt even know his own policy. Below is copied from their weapons policy, and clearly states firing pins, barrels etc as being permitted yet he says they are not.

(from the website)
Permitted

All other legal gun parts and accessories, including, but not limited to, trigger guards, firing pins, barrels, stocks, butt plates, trigger assemblies, pistol grips, holsters and scopes.

And he is the VP of "trust and Safety"? What kind of smarmy group hug kind of department is that. I guess when they gather for Chai and channel into their crystals while they remove their Birkenstocks and Tye died hemp shirts and peel bark off of trees for a wholesome snack, they collectively wring their hands and furrow their eyebrows abotu this. But i guess porn and S&M stuff is perfectly okay??????????
hey buddy watch it with the tie die and birkenstock comments, I resemble that remark. actually I'm sure its just thier shakra being out of alingment.

Steve,

Did you check the counter. It is over 20,000 and rolling.
Regarding:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm thinkin' flint handaxes now, my brothers.
A good repop of an Auchelean Paleolithic Euro-model would be quite handy. And, of course, the French have some fine originals which are JUST superieour, mon fren'. ;~`)
The deadliest CCW's I've seen, tho, were shoulder holstered Irish-Celt Bronze Age handaxes, that were slung under the arm. I meeeeean, they just LOOKED deadly lying there in the Dublin Museum exhibit case. And, the leather shoulder rig was bog preserved. I don't believe that Bronze hand axes are yet on the radar of the AntiGun-Flickers [a twittering and malevolent species], so mebbe there is commercial potential there. Fist-sized, light, quick. The J-frame of hand axes.
For sure, a nice flint handaxe is much sharper and mortally useful, when they are properly made and then flung like a discus. They whirl straight on, like a dense, serrated-razor edged Frisbee [TM]. Since mammoth and sabre-tooth are no longer on the menu, perhaps a lighter 'humanoid defensive' model could be developed and deployed. Imagine a high-capacity bandolier full of theose deadly objects,eh? Sam Browne style, prolly, due to the weight.
Next: Folsom spear points: A case study in form, function, and deadliness. Aztec flint daggers and machiutuls are under consideration. Do you suppose the AuntieGonne Flickers would care to play a proper good game of Aztec handball? Traditional rules apply.
The "bullet tips" mentioned in the quote show how ignorant people like this are. My suggestion would be to not do business on E-bay, if you feel strongly about this nonsense. Better yet, quit doing any business on their site but let them know why.
Screw eBay and who cares if those people carry guns or not and who cares if WalMart carries guns....screw them both, patronize your local gun shop they could use the business!!! And you'll never have a problem fixing a problem with your firearm!!
Two days before deer season, went down to BravermanArms in Wilkinsburg, "Buddy could you look at this and figure out what's wrong" The shop was packed with people, he went into the back of his shop with my rifle and a half hour later came back, "Here, now try it"!!! Never had a probelm with that rifle since!!! Now does someone actually think I would go anywhere else!!
All the best
Gentlemen,
I responded to e-bay immediately asking them to cancel my membership. First to the person that implemented the policy.
(Matt Halprin) The president of E-bay sent me an e-mail that the Safety and Trust committee with over 2000 people worldwide had made the decision.
I will not deal with E-bay in the future and encourage others to cancel their membership.
guys you want a laugh search "guns" on ebay!
6670 hits and none deadly
