A 12, yes. A 16, no. Curious why the gauge would matter.

To put it simply. It’s lines, sleekness. They have a different look than your basic a & d boxlock and I like 16’s. A 16 will be my next gun. Only have one 16. Looking for another

While the guage certainly is not hurting anything, it is the fact that the gun is NOT your basic A&D boxlock but a Facile Princeps action that gives it those sleek lines. The action knuckle is reduced in profile because it does not need to house the cocking dogs, the hammers are cocked by a protrusion in the forward lump. Beautifully built guns. You do not see many top tang safety versions and way less in 16 bore but the hunt for the perfect gun is half the fun. Good luck in your search.

This is a recent Greener 16 gauge sidelock - it speaks for itself.

YES, IT DOES!

This is my FP with a top tang safety. Beautifully restocked by SKB, of course.
it is a 12, however.

Nice they are intriguing guns. If only they made more with a top safety. It might be quite difficult to the right one and being a lefty makes it even more difficult to find

The vast majority of British guns can be bent for a lefty, do not let a little cast on hold you back if everything else is what you are looking for.

Good to see the Greener back out in the field Brent and those are some really nice pics!

There is a limit to what you can bend. 3/4’s up and 3/4’s over is more than I’d chance

Everything I have has been bent
Posted By: SKB Re: 16 gauge Greener - 02/01/22 04:04 PM
I have bent lots of guns more than 3/4" for cast, drop is much harder to achieve the same travel. Each piece of wood is different but cast is almost always achievable.

Side safety, I'm afraid. 26" barrels, 5 3/4 lbs. Made in 1897.

SKB here are some pictures of the workings of the Greener Monarch Imperial shown above. Quite a dainty gun.

Wow Daryl - did you source that treasure in the U.S.?
The great J.A.R. Elliott used a Greener early on, until enticed to shoot for Winchester with a 1893 Repeating Shotgun after the 3rd Grand American Handicap at Live Birds in 1895 where he placed second with his Greener.
Scroll down here about 3/4

Another (good) possibility is that the gun was ordered by J.A.R.'s brother Robert for sale at R.S. Elliott Arms Co. in K.C.

Daryll,
I, and I am certain, everyone else, would love to see some more pictures of your 16 gauge. It sounds like it is a beautiful gun.

If it ever needs a home, let me know. I would be seriously interested.

PS. I posted the details from my Greener's letter in BillK's thread on his Greener F35.

Drew, yes, I did get it from the U.S. It came from Kansas where I think your Mr. Elliott resided.

Yep. Here's the store on Grand some years later.
I am not aware that any sales records still exist

There are some gold initials on the trigger guard. It has been many years, but I once I had the idea the gun might have been for J A R’s wife. I’ll look up the initials when I get to another computer.

That takes me back! I bought some things from that store in the 1970s when I lived in Kansas City.

I just picked up a couple of small bore Greener shotguns. Has anyone seen a .410 on the Facile Princeps action?
