I am planning to visit friends s of Jacksonville Fla and will be driving, so my route is somewhat flexible. I would like to shoot Sporting on the way down or back. Are there courses that shouldn't be missed near I 75 in GA, I 95 from Savannah down past Jacksonville, around Nashville, TN
Thanks for any tips.

Hello Nitrah,

You've got the big Nashville Gun Club. Nice, big facility. They even have bunker trap if you feel like bruising your shooting ego.

Once you're in GA, you have Garland Mountain, about 20 minutes off I-75. If you're passing by there on a Saturday or Sunday, let me know and I can meet you there. I shoot there often. It's worth it for the view from the club house, and you can get a good meal there. The courses are good there too.

South of Atlanta, you have The Meadows, literally right off the interstate.

Savannah is home to the beautiful and historic Forrest City Gun Club, but it is private and would require an invite.

And then north of Jacksonville, just into Florida is Amelia Shotgun Sports. Close the the interstate, and I have heard it is nice place to shoot. I have not been there myself. Below are the websites for the clubs I've listed. I'm sure others will add to the list. There are a number of venues around Jacksonville.

Thanks, Matt for pointing out the Meadows. I didn't know there was a sporting clays course that is slightly closer to me than Etowah Valley.

Bay Gall Sporting Clays, my home course, is not a long drive from I-95. It's at Rocky Ford, GA. Two courses available, of differing difficulty. Open to the public every day except Monday.

If you decide to include it on your trip let me know and I'll try to meet you there for a round.

I've shot Amelia Island and it's fine but, in that area, I prefer the Jacksonville Gun Club. It's an old established gun club with a nice sporting course, and all the other desired clay target venues.

Just a personal preference. I shot the sporting course there last September.

I second the Jacksonville Clay Target Sports facility. Great facility, staff and tradition. Not uptight but professional.

Only open on Wed and the weekends though. They have a steak dinner on Wed eves. Pretty cool setup.
